Are you a fan of chinoiserie? I wasn't until I started reading the blogs "The Pink Pagoda" and "Chinoiserie Chic." These talented bloggers have educated me and I grown to have an appreciation for Chinese design.

I was cruising CraigsList today and found this adorable little table lamp for $15. The ad boasts that it is "cute" with "Chinese Chippendale feet". I don't have a place for this adorable little lamp. One of the hazards of reading blogs is living vicariously through another blogger's eyes. I think I am falling in love with this little beauty.

What do you folks think? Buy or Pass? What kind of shade would you use? Is it quality or crap-o-la?

I have no idea what so ever on the "quality". I'm not an expert on this art form. I would have to see shades of different shapes and sizes before saying which would be best.
ReplyDeleteGood luck girl, I am no help on this....sorry.:)

Hold on to that...I think it will be more valuable with age!
ReplyDeleteIf you like it for what it is--a playful take on a chinoiserie-esque design--go for it. Otherwise, skip it. It is not classic nor is it going to improve in value as it ages.
ReplyDeleteGreat point, Adele!
DeleteI think I would pass. Unless you have the perfect spot for it, you would then struggle to find a spot.I know how hard it is to walk away, but the Craigslist Fairy will smile upon you again.
ReplyDeleteNo perfect spot for it, Linda. I love me some Craigslist. I'll save my bucks for something mo' betta!
DeleteIf you love it, buy it!

Kim, I think I love the idea of it. I like trying new styles and this seemed like an inexpensive new toy.
DeleteSorry, Linda, I would pass.....not a big fan of the Chinese look.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a fan of Chinese but what these talented bloggers have done in their homes is amazing. Thanks for your vote. I think I will pass.
