Aren't the Christmas posts great! I adore looking at all the pictures of beautifully decorated homes. I kinda-sorta yearn for that custom look but can't pull it off. I am too sentimental. I have to include my now-33-YO son's handmade ornaments from preschool and a few other wacky items full of memories old and new.

The first Christmas Kristen was dating John she swooned over seeing his childhood masterpieces. (Such a precious memory of her ogling the tree.) Now, she tells their son Jack, "That was your daddy when he was a little boy." So Sweet....
And, not so sweet....John's handmade ornament addition from our family Christmas game. (Recognize the kitty from the kitty litter ad? TMI?)

Remember how I was stripped of my tiera (and feathered boa!) during Dirty Santa? Neighbor Connie was on my doorstep last night with a marvelous replacement! Thanks for my Tiera Santa Hat!
I found 2 white ceramic "Joy" pillar lights at Marshall's for $16.99. Love!

I can't say any of our three "angels" ever made ornaments, but I'm sure they did!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely tradition to display all your treasures...
Wow, Patty! I thought all kids made ornaments when they were little. The ornaments stopped when he graduated to elementary school...I do adore those little treasures. Happy Holidays!
DeleteBoy am I NOT observant. Totally didn't see the Joy in the lamps when you showed them to me. Liked them then, Love them now... Glad you like the Santa Tiara. You had to have it when I found it on the shelf.
ReplyDeleteLove my Santa Tiara Hat! I think my Joy lamps are pretty cool--don't think the JOY cutout in the ceramic is very noticeable--but I love it,too!
DeleteI'm the same as Connie (above) - had to go back and take a second look at the candleholder to see the "JOY". Oh boy, is that indicative of how I'm feeling right now? Don't see the joy in things? Not at all!!!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have two trees in our house - the family tree filled with all the sentimental things the kids made and "Mommy's yuppy tree" decorated the way I wanted with coordinating ornaments and a theme. The kids took all there ornaments when they got places of their own so that they could remember those times when they were young.
The 2 tree is the way to go, Heather. I only have one son so there is not but a few ornaments. I'll have to wait for the grand kids to make a kids tree! I may use those JOY lamps throughout the year since the JOY isn't obvious. Happy Holidays Heather!
DeleteWway more fun than my boring ornaments!! Love yours! xo Maria
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria! Merry Christmas! Someone told me, "Your tree has a soul." I like that.
