Gaga About Flipping Out!

I am crazy excited about Flipping Out returning tonight on BRAVO.  I am a devotee of Jeff Lewis.  With all his quirks, abuse, anxieties and talent he inspires and entertains me.  When Jeff is in a house and looking around I love to watch his eyes and the wheels of genius turning.  I do the same thing (cancel the 'genius') when I consult on a house. I am 'seeing' the potential of the house and how it can be achieved.
Bravo

I prefer to view a house when no one is home. I know this is not what you see on staging shows.  On those shows, the stager goes it and chats up putting 'this here', 'that there' and moving out 'all the other'.  I like to get the feel of the house.  Houses, like people, have energy.  I can tell if folks are fighting, kids are placated with toys instead of time, or if love and harmony prevail. It's harder to detect when someone is yammering it up about their house and telling me what they know they need to do.

Anywho, I really like Jeff's clean, minimalism in his decor selections and interior renovations.

Truth be told, my only objection to Jeff's style is the crappy draperies he uses.  Jeff seems to have a fondness for tunnel-top and tab-top drapes.  I agree with mixing up price points but window treatments is not the place to go low budget (in the opinion of moi).

I hope you get a chance to join the gang: Jeff,  Zoila, Jenni, Gage and newbie, Andrew, for design and drama on the new season of Flipping Out.

Do you watch Flipping Out?  What is your take on Jeff's style?

  4. I like Jeff’s antics more than I like how he transforms a home. I especially love the relationship between Jeff and Zoila. I’m not a fan of Gage, but I’m hoping he branches out more this season. Unfortunately, I just started a new work schedule at Dish, and won’t be able to catch the new episodes of ‘Flipping Out.’ My boyfriend just bought us the new Hopper, and I’ve got this show set to record along with the Real Housewives shows. I’m glad it holds 2000 hours of recording space, because I have a lot of new shows I’m adding to my list.

    1. Well Natalie, you won't be disappoint in Jeff's antics tonight. I must say I was disappointed that the design aspect of the show was maybe 2%. Sounds like you have lots of recording on your new Hopper to enjoy despite working. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

    1. Hey Brooke! Hope you are not too disappointed. Seems like the producers decided to pick up more on the drama than the design!

  6. Hi Linda

We've been closet fans of Jeff Lewis around here for years. I don't think he has a big presence in Canada because they keep switching his show around - we don't get the same seasons at the same time on Bravo as you. The last show I saw of his was on HGTV and it was more of a design show rather than the usual Flipping Out - not as successful in my opinion. I'll have to keep my eye for another season. I love Zola and the mother/son relationship too.

    1. Yes, Heather he and Jeni had a show "Interior Therapy" that wasn't very successful. I guess that is why they went back to the old formula. Jeff was crazy Jeff last night. I was disappointed there wasn't more design included--but I'll still keep watching.

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am a total Jeff Lewis fan as well. I was delighted to see the show back on Bravo. His drapes could use some work. I have not finished design school as of yet.

    1. Oh Honey, anybody would feel normal after watching that train-wreck, Jeff Lewis! He is so neurotic but I love to watch him figure out mistakes (and feel good that even big shot designers still make them) and do work arounds.

    1. Kim, I think it takes getting to know Jeff to like him. I couldn't be around his constant criticism--but then he does buy people elective surgery and cars as compensation for his behavior!
